NATIONAL SIGNING DAY PRODUCES TOP PROSPECTS WHO HAVE ACHIEVED ON ASTROTURF


(DALTON, GEORGIA) - National Signing Day is the equivalent of Christmas morning for the college football fan.

The 2011 version did not disappoint.

According to rivals.com, the top 10 recruiting classes for 2011 were Alabama, Florida State, Texas, USC, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

Of those, four schools either currently utilize AstroTurf® practice fields or will utilize them to prepare for the 2011 football season.

Literally hundreds of recruits who signed letters of intent today played their high school football on AstroTurf® playing fields.

Among those, were some players wielding significant playing skills.

Jeoffrey Pagan, a highly touted defensive end out of Asheville High School in North Carolina signed with Alabama as a member of the nation’s highest rated recruiting class.

Paul Lang, a tight end out of Mount Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania inked his papers with Michigan State University. Also signing with Michigan State was Jack Allen from Hinsdale Central in Illinois.

Muleshoe, Texas, standout Copper Washington had committed to Oklahoma as early as a year ago, but changed his mind and signed with the Red Raiders of Texas, Tech.

Keenan Hale, a wide receiver from the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has committed to play for the Syracuse Orangemen.

Ridgeland High School in Georgia produced two big SEC recruits. Receiver Devin Bowman has signed with the Georgia Bulldogs and defensive end Mason Harris will play for Steve Spurrier at the University of South Carolina.

David Helton, a star linebacker at The Baylor School in Tennessee, will play for the Duke Blue Devils.

Texas powerhouse Brenham High School produced five players who signed scholarships. Among them were defensive end Brandon Alexander who will attend Texas A&M, Rodney Hubert an SMU signee, and John Poehlmann, who will play for Rice.
